Jayne - Home Study Program
I highly recommend the Wicks WOC Program. I completed the Home Study Program in 2008-2009. The study guides closely followed the textbooks and were easily understood.
The support team was great. My Preceptor possesses an understanding of the information and she was very willing to share her knowledge to help me become a success.
I never had a question or concern that wasn't addressed. I achieved my board certification in 2009 and feel that this was due to the fact that this program prepared me so well for the testing experience.
Dianne - Full Scope Program
Having been a practicing professional nurse for nearly 30 years with bachelors and masters degrees in nursing and having achieved four other professional certifications, I can honestly say that my experience with the Wicks Nursing Education Program as preparation for taking the WOCN® certification exam was THE BEST of all of my professional experiences to date.
The program is well organized, thorough, and exceptionally practical and applicable to caring for patients with three categories of the most disfiguring, debilitating, and/or disheartening afflictions of mankind.
Although the program is rigorous covering an impressive volume of material in great depth, as a graduate you enter practice as a CWOCN with the confidence that you can approach patient situations with the skill and ability to be able to figure out what the problems are, what caused them, what the best evidence based treatments are, why and how they work, and why alternatives are not the favored options.
The value to the organization of which I am a part was immediately evident to my colleagues, our patients, our physicians and our leadership team upon my return and continues to be demonstrated daily with each patient and staff interaction.
As I look back over my career, I truly believe becoming a CWOCN was what I was meant be as a nurse because I am now able to truly help patients when they need it the most.
I know what to do, why it works, and why other options won't work. I feel confident that I can help to solve the most complex of problems. With my CWOCN I've earned the respect of patients, physicians, and my colleagues.
Finally, even though the program is challenging, the faculty and staff of Wicks are supportive and encouraging of each student because they are passionate about wound ostomy continence nursing and the benefits to the recipients of the services we provide.
Laura - Wound Care Specialty Program
My experience with WEA started in November of 2009 with the Wound Care Specialty Course. The instructor's extensive clinical expertise as well as the collegial learning environment made the on-site Wound Specialty course a truly worthwhile learning experience.
Upon completion of the course, I felt determined to return to WEA to complete the Bridge to Full Scope Course. When I returned for two weeks in March 2010 the WEA clinical and support staff surpassed my expectations for a second time.
Because of my many commitments to family and work, getting away to attend an educational program seemed like an unrealistic challenge. Thankfully, the flexibility of WEA educational programs allowed me to complete my coursework without having to be away from home and work for weeks at a time.
